If you've done some golf betting in the past, you're probably well aware of the main wagers like "Outright Winner," "Field," and which golfer finishes higher. The Outright Wager bet is commonplace at every sportsbook, while the other two are usually offered as well.

But when you're dealing with some of the bigger golf events like the Masters and British Open, you are bound to see a number of different prop bets. Your first instinct might be to totally ignore these because you don't feel like going through the process of learning them. However, the truth is that golf prop bets can add a lot more enjoyment to your betting experience and spice up the game. That said, let's go over some of these wagers in detail so you know what to expect.

Will a Certain Golfer hit a Hole in One

- This is a very simple one to explain. A number of golfers will be listed with different odds, and you merely need to pick the one(s) whom you think might hit a hole in one during the tournament. Sometimes this bet is expressed in a ‘yes' or ‘no' question for an entire tournament, as in "Will there be a hole in one?"

18 Hole Matchups

- An 18-hole matchup bet pits two golfers against each other, and you have to guess which one will win the round for that particular day.

Will a Certain Golfer finish in the Top 5

- There'll be various golfers listed with odds attached to them, and it's your job to pick which one(s) will finish in the top five. Keep in mind that this bet is sometimes expressed as a top 4 or top 10 wager too.

3 Balls

- During the first two days of a tournament, golfers are usually lumped together in groups of three (hence "3 balls"). Bettors then wager on who will have the best score of these three players after 18 holes.

2 Balls

- Works the same as 3-ball betting, except there are only two golfers in the group. These bets become available towards the end of tournaments, as fields thin out.

Nationality of the Winner - If you like golfers from a certain country, why not place a bet on one of them winning the next tournament you watch?

Will there be a Playoff

- The name says it all since you're wagering on if there'll be a playoff at the end of a tournament.

How Many Majors will a Player win

- For some of the very elite golfers, you'll see a Majors bet offered. For example, a sportsbook might give odds on Tiger Woods winning one, two, three or four Majors in a single year.

Lowest Tournament Round

- This bet asks you to wager on if the lowest round of a tournament will be over or under a certain amount. An example would be a lowest tournament round over/under of 65.5 strokes.

The Age of the Winner

- Another over/under where you're given a certain age, and you must bet if the winner will be younger or older than this number.

Top Amateur Finisher

- You'll be offered a list of amateurs with odds attached, and you must pick the highest finisher of the group.

Top Former Winner

- A list of previous champions at a specific tournament are given, and you pick the one whom you think will finish the best.

As you can see, there are a lot of prop bets available in golf. And What's crazy is that we didn't even go over all of them! This means the variety is practically endless when you're looking for a golf prop bet to make.
